The Northbrook Civic Foundation meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 8:00 p.m., at the Civic Building, 2002 Walters Avenue.

Before the business portion of the monthly meeting, there is often a presentation by a community leader on some aspect of life in Northbrook. Members usually remain after the meeting to socialize.

Civic attracts individuals who are concerned about their community and want to actively help improve it. Many members also volunteer their time with other organizations in Northbrook.

As a member of the Civic Foundation, you will help raise funds and then participate in the decision process for their distribution. By joining Civic, you will contribute directly to the quality of life in Northbrook.

In order to qualify for membership, you must live or work in Northbrook. You must also first work at Northbrook Days and attend one regular Civic meeting, or attend three regular meetings as a guest. Every year, each member is expected to actively participate in planning for and/or working at Northbrook Days.

Civic Foundation members work hard to ensure the success of Northbrook Days. When it is over, members diligently research requests for funding, and award grants to organizations that, in turn, contribute to the community.

The annual dues are a nominal $20 per individual.

There are eleven monthly business meetings per year, plus committee meetings as required. The business meetings are similar to 'town hall' meetings. Projects are presented and everyone is encouraged to discuss the proposal. Our membership has traditionally been very vocal.
