College Scholarships

Civic scholarships are for Northbrook residents who are first time college students or entering trade, vocational or technical school, or a junior college. The amounts of the scholarships vary.

Applications can be obtained in the Guidance Office of your high school (Glenbrook North, Loyola Academy, Regina Dominican High School, Ida Crown Jewish Academy) or from Jodie Dinelli (see below for contact information).

This is a two part application as follows:

Part I - Student:  Complete the Student Portion of the Application AND the Following:
  1. Arrange to have an unofficial transcript of your grades for the first seven semesters of high school attached to the application.
  2. You may include a letter of recommendation.
  3. A double spaced essay of 500 words answering the following:
    "Share a significant event in your life that would best provide insight into what kind of person you are and the aspirations and interests you hold."

Part 2 - Student and Parents/Guardian: 

Complete THE STUDENT/PARENT PORTION OF THE APPLICATION AND YOU MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:  SAR (STUDENT AID REPORT)

SUBMIT ALL OF THE ABOVE, ON OR BEFORE APRIL 13, 2009:

5) UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT OF YOUR GRADES FOR THE FIRST 7 SEMESTERS OF HIGH SCHOOL

Students planning to obtain licenses or certification for trade, paraprofessional or other vocations which don't require academic degrees will be considered for scholarship awards separately from those attending four-year colleges. Applications from students who will attend junior college or technical and vocational schools to achieve their career goals are encouraged.

Notification of scholarship awards will be made in late May. Please contact me if you have any questions or need additional information.
